Celebrating the life of Niels P. Lyster
Thank you for signing Niels P. Lyster's Guestbook
Grampa was such a treasure. As a child I remember thinking the must be the smartest man in the world. He always seemed to have an answer to any question I had, and a warm smile if he didn't. He will be missed. My love goes out to grandma.

Dear Patricia and family, I was saddened to hear of your loss. I remember seeing and speaking with Niels at several Propylaeum events and always thought him a kind and attentive gentleman. I know he will be missed dearly and I hope the years you had him in your life and the memories of the good times will ease some of the pain of his passing. Jill Chambers

Niels was a terrific treasurer for the Asian Art Society of the Indianapolis Museum of Art for many years. His droll sense of humor helped him deliver a message of always prudent spending to support the work of the curators but still, encouragement of realistic in fund raising efforts. His clear-eyed judgments were so valuable. He shared interesting stories of his life in Nagasaki and enjoyed occasional exchanges in Japanese with John Teramoto. He was a world citizen and a real gentleman. I will miss his presence around the IMA. My deepest sympathy goes out to Patricia and her family.

I hope you had a life full of Joy and happiness.Although I did not have the opportunity to know you in person I am thankful for the correspondence these past 3 years through letters, emails and pictures. I learned of Grandpa and Grandma Lyster through the remeniscing that was shared during family gatherings and holidays by your Grandsons and Colleen. Your name will be carried on through these memories and I know you will be missed.Josh spoke highly of you and loved you, he prayed continually for his Grandpa Lyster and we will continue to pray for Grandma Lysters heart though this time.
Grandpa and Grandma Lyster always remembered us and warmed our home by sending their thoughts our way which made holidays, milestones and birthdays all the more special. We are forever grateful that we experienced your love. We still have the Tippie to paint and build that Grandpa sent Autumn for her 2nd Birthday and when we do that project together our hearts will be on you.
